My story
Telling stories about modern life through a personal and cultural 35mm lens.
I’m Steph Grace, a writer & fimmaker from London who grew up watching David Lynch and obscure foreign films because my dad decided that was a perfectly normal thing to show a child, so I never really stood a chance.
After studying English Literature & Film and spending ten years in the corporate world, I found myself drawn back to storytelling…only now, I get to tell those stories through film.
I’m interested in the weirdness of being human, this modern life and everything that comes with it - identity, relationships, purpose & connection and all the little things we probably think about more than we admit.
Being half Guyanese,or ‘a coolie white gal’ has likely been a catalyst for my interest in stories around cultural identity, belonging and the different worlds we find ourselves moving between.
There are so many interesting people building businesses, starting things, changing things and doing things differently, stories of reinvention (ahem) and often the story behind what they do is far more interesting than the product itself.
That’s where I come in…
I make films and visual content for businesses, founders and organisations with a story to tell. Whether it’s the person behind the business, why it exists, how it came to be or what makes it different, I want to get underneath the surface and make something that feels human, cinematic and worth watching.
Good storytelling is one of the best ways to make people care about what you do.
Meanwhile, I’m developing my own films, strange, existential stories about identity, connection, the choices we make and the slightly surreal business of being alive.
Ultimately, I want to make the kind of work that makes someone think, oh wow, me too.
And if my dad hadn’t introduced me to David Lynch at an impressionable age, who knows - I might have had a normal career.
But who wants normal anyway?
